Best Commercial Workplace award for SportPark
13 June 2011
SportPark at Loughborough University has claimed another award to add to its collection.
Home to many of the country's top sports governing bodies and national sports organisations, SportPark has been awarded, Best Commercial Workplace at the British Council for Offices Awards for the Midlands and East Anglia.
The judges described the building as “iconic”, and a “great addition” to the University. They also commented on the building’s strong environmental credentials, making use of natural ventilation and ground source heat pumps which resulted in the building achieving a prestigious BREEAM “Excellent” Award.
Jeff Downes, Director at Corstorphine + Wright and British Council for Offices Judging Chair for the Midlands and East Anglia said:
“It has been another exceptional year for entries in the Midlands and East Anglia regional awards, with the quality of buildings being put forward being very good indeed. Each category was hotly contested and is a tribute to the tremendous innovation and talent in the Midlands and East Anglia, with teams delivering fantastic workspaces for the end user. I wish our winners and Innovation Award nominee the best of luck at the national awards in October."
Designed by David Morley Architects and built by Baggaley Construction, SportPark was completed in December 2009 and the first occupants took up residency in January 2010.
