Sports Technology Institute
The Sports Technology Institute is a £15M venture in partnership with the East Midlands Development Agency, English Institute of Sport, UK Sport and Loughborough University's Innovative Manufacturing and Construction Research Centre to boost enterprise in the sport and leisure sector and develop cutting-edge technology to support future British champions.
School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences
The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences is an amalgamation of two independent outstanding multi-disciplinary departments: Sport and Exercise Sciences and Human Sciences.
The new School has been created to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise between nationally and internationally renowned staff for the teaching of and research into sport, exercise and health disciplines.
The School has a highly regarded record of research, which has influenced policy and practice around the world, in areas such as: human development and ageing; sleep research; work and health; eating behaviour and disorders; sports biomechanics; exercise physiology and nutrition; sport and exercise psychology; sociology of sport; physical education and pedagogy; physical activity and health; and sport management.
Recognised internationally by EQUIS accreditation for the excellence of all our activities, the Business School is among just 5% of business schools in the world to have achieved this prestigious accreditation and attracts people from all over the world with a rich variety of business cultures and experiences.
The Business School is frequently regarded as one of the top-ten business schools in the UK. Our teaching is consistently rated as ‘excellent’ and our programmes are informed by world-class research, with 60% of our research rated as 'world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent' by the 2008 RAE.The 2008 National Students Survey listed us at 4th in the UK for Management Studies, and joint 5th for Accounting.
